Great horned owls



I took these photos last month while visiting my parents in Sebring, Florida. These owls were nesting in a tree on a golf course. Papa (I assume) was standing guard. Camouflaged very well, but we saw him.

We walked around to the other side of the tree and could see Mama's head as she sat on her nest.

Fantastic. I'd flip if I saw an owl's nest. Never seen one.

It was pretty neat! They had nested in the same place last year, so I had my parents take me there again when I visited this year. The male (at least I assume it was the male) was huge!

Actually, I think the female is the larger one - ferocious looking!
