A collection of notes and photos - most of them taken at our home on Lake Gaston, North Carolina. Pets & wildlife are my favorite photo subjects. Visit my Lakeview Aviary website for info and more photos about my indoor finch aviary.

Hmmm.. what is it? Is it dangerous to the birds?
Good not being barefoot!
I'm not sure what kind of lizard it is - and I'm hoping that it's not dangerous to the birds because he's still around 2 days later. Every once in awhile I see him in the aviary, but most of the time he's in my "bird work room" which is filled with shelves and multiple hiding places. As soon as I walk in he zips behind the shelves. I may need to empty out the room (no fun) to catch him.
it is a skink. A harmless(unless you are a cricket) five lined skink. They are just gorgeous creatures and v ery fast. There is no need to not wear your shoes.
Here is alink so you can read about them for yourself. I love them. Cats are their enemy.
Good Luck!
