the Nest

We recently converted a guest bedroom into a little office for me. This means that guests now have to sleep on a blow-up mattress, but I'm enjoying my little office. I toyed with the idea of making it a pet-free zone (gasp!), but that was just a fleeting thought. Pup1 is usually on my lap when I'm at my desk & I moved a flight cage in so that my tame society finches, Honeycomb and Taffy can spend time with me in here.

Honeycomb has two favorite activities - hanging out with me and nest building. He has learned to combine the two by perching on my head and trying to yank nesting material (a.k.a. my hair) out of my head. I really have no hair to spare, so I've taken to wearing a baseball cap to dissuade him. He's not happy about that, so as a peace offering I cut up strips of tissues and placed them in the bottom of the cage. I thought he might like to use them for his nest & I guess I was right...

Susan, what a great place you have! I'm hosting a "blogger habitat" post in a week or two. You are invited to submit your place, if you care to do it. Details are at the end of this post and I've had a lot of response: http://marys-view.blogspot.com/2007/05/looking-for-yellow-and-invitation-to.html

I drove past Lake Gaston over the weekend and thought of you.

Mary,
I'm way behind on my blog reading - otherwise I would have already read about your "blogger habitat" idea. I'll email you a photo soon. I hope that next time you're passing through our area, you'll let me know. I would love to meet you!
