Look at them all dressed up in their summer finery. I think they were planning their trip home - I haven't seen a loon since I took these photos last week.

Loons are such handsome birds. We've got lots of them up here in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes"

Lucky you! We get glimpses of them all winter, but it seems that they spend 90% of their time underwater. Also, we don't get to see them in their summer plumage for long. I'm glad I got to see these three before they headed north.

Beautiful photos! I wish I saw more loons here, but I think I'm not going to the right places.

I didn't realize that we had loons here in Virginia. I've only seen them on Lake Champlain. How exciting!
